Diet or exercise to lose weight?

Workout or diet to lose weight?

People often ask me“Eli, what is more important to lose weight, exercise or diet?” Well, let’s put it this way“Can you lose weight without working out or without exercising regularly?Yes, if you are in a calorie deficit!

Can, but you also lose weight without watching what you eat, or without knowing how much you actually eat? Yes, if you are in a calorie deficit, but if you have no idea at all how much you are actually eating, it will probably be very difficult. The point is, if you want to lose weight, you need to be in a calorie deficit.

What does that mean? You need to consume more calories than you take in. Whether you increase consumption through exercise, strength training, running or any other sport, or simply eat significantly less, it doesn’t matter if it’s just about losing weight.

Of course, exercise and training has many other positive aspects, but if we talk now only about losing weight, first of all, before we talk about quality of food, it is about the calorie deficit. Of course, when it comes to calorie deficit, you have to keep in mind that it makes sense for you to spread your meals out more throughout the day, rather than maybe just one big meal a day, as it will probably be easier to sustain that hunger pang as well.
Here it is also helpful to eat rather foods with a low energy density:
E.g.: Fruit, potatoes, vegetables, salad, lean meat, low-fat milk and dairy products such as yogurt, cottage cheese, or buttermilk.
