FAQ – Physiotherapy

Elisabeth Tretenhahn - Physiotherapeutin (BSc) - diplomierte Gesundheits- und Personaltrainerin
What do I have to do to start a physiotherapy treatment and how does the first treatment proceed?2023-04-11T17:39:31+02:00

To start physiotherapy treatment, you first need a prescription from a doctor (e.g. your family doctor or orthopedist). You must then have this prescription approved by your chief physician in order to be reimbursed by your health insurance company after completion of the therapy. At present, ÖGK and BVA are exempt from approval.
For more information on reimbursement, click here.

Then make an appointment with us – either by phone or directly online. The first therapy session always lasts 60 minutes, as we will discuss your complaints and goals and conduct a detailed examination. Please bring the doctor’s prescription, all current findings of your complaints and comfortable clothing or sweatpants.

Further treatments will last 60 or 45 minutes – you can choose.
In the process, we will implement or adapt the therapy plan that we worked out together in the first session. We will conduct ongoing assessments throughout the duration of therapy to see if we need to adjust our treatment techniques to best meet your goals.

How long does a typical physical therapy session last?2023-04-11T17:39:50+02:00

Our offer includes units of 45 or 60 minutes duration

How many physical therapy sessions are typically needed?2023-04-11T17:40:08+02:00

The number of physiotherapy sessions needed depends on the nature of the complaint and can vary greatly from individual to individual. Sometimes, for example, 3 sessions in which exercises and self-help strategies are developed together are sufficient, and sometimes significantly more sessions are necessary (e.g. in the case of complaints that have lasted for a very long time and rehab after cruciate ligament surgery).

How much does a physiotherapy session cost and is the cost covered by health insurance?2023-04-11T17:40:33+02:00

Current information about our prices can be found here.
The health insurance fund assumes a, now relatively large, share of the costs. You can find detailed information about the refund here.
If you have private insurance, you should check with your insurance company in advance. In some cases, this even covers all remaining costs.

What can you do for me as a physical therapist?2023-04-11T17:40:53+02:00

We all have our different specialties, some of which overlap, of course.
Here you can see who has which specialties. If you have any questions, please contact us.

Important to all of us in therapy are individualized mobility, stability, and strengthening exercises based on your examination results and goals. Each of us will give you self-help exercises to achieve long-term results. A comprehensive examination of your complaints is very important to us, which is why we also work as a team with Michael(performance diagnostics) and Markus(dietology). Also our masseur Thomas supports us(sport and healing massage).

Lymphatic drainage to reduce swelling, e.g. after operations, takes place as part of physiotherapy if required.
