Protein powder provides a convenient source of protein. Depending on the product, it has hardly any carbohydrates and fat. Thus, one can well consume “pure” protein. Just because the protein powder doesn’t grow on a tree or was caught in the forest doesn’t make it worse than other “natural” foods.
The assumption that anything “natural” is “better or healthier” is called a naturalistic fallacy.

But is a daily pork roast healthier than a protein shake?

Protein powder, for example, can be helpful to reach the daily “protein goal” more easily and without much effort/cooking.

Do you have to consume protein powder for this?
Of course not, but it’s one option among many….

Protein/day – recommendations:

🥚Adults (< 65 y.)
(min.) 0.8g/ kg body weight/ day

🥚Seniors (65+ y.):
1g/ kg body weight/ day

Increased protein requirement:
🥚 Sportswomen:
up to 2g/ kg body weight/ day
(especially if you want to build muscle mass, it makes sense to eat > 1g protein/ kg/ day!)

🥚 Diet/ Slimming

🥚 Diseases, injuries

🥚 Seniors
