How does this work?

Spirometry is the gold standard of performance diagnostics as far as endurance sports are concerned, and allows the precise determination of the current performance level, the sensible training zones and the identification of strengths and weaknesses with regard to your endurance performance.

With spirometry, a step test is carried out either on the ergometer or on the treadmill, during which the breathing gases, heart rate and the power generated (watts or speed) are measured. Based on these values, the training zones can be defined, the current performance level can be determined and a statement can be made about the distribution of the energy supply from carbohydrates and fats.
